1987 Chevy Truck 1500 Photo Gallery
This decent 1987 Chevy 1500 two wheel drive truck is a one owner truck that will be receiving a total ground up rotisserie restoration.
The frame, cab and box will be made like new again along with a complete freshening of the powertrain and driveline.
This Chevy Truck is powered by a 5.0 Litre (305) V8 Engine with an automatic transmission.
The fiberglass cap was installed when the truck was new. The cap was removed and the client is considering a hard tonneau cover.
We will be performing some enhancements and upgrades on this custom build.
The build began by performing a mechanical inspection and checking what components were not working correctly. Some of the wiring at the front marker lights and driver headlight require some wiring repairs.
The engine received a compression test and all eight cylinders checked out fine. It was noted that there were several minor oil leaks on the motor, the transmission and rear end seals.
We removed all lights, front grille and trim, front and rear bumpers and all emblems and mouldings. The bed assembly was unbolted and lifted off of the frame.
The front inner and outer fenders, radiator, radiator support and all wiring was also removed. All brake lines, fuel lines and wiring was carefully removed and the cab assembly was lifted off of the frame. The steering components and column were removed along with the brake booster and master cylinder from the firewall area.
The frame with engine and transmission was scraped and degreased and also pressure washed before the driveline was lifted from the frame. The front end steering, braking and suspension components were removed along with the rear end and rear leaf springs. The fuel tank was also removed.
The bare frame was then placed onto a custom built rotisserie and was completely cleaned and sandblasted. The rear end was also degreased, cleaned and media blasted too.
The frame, suspension, steering and rear end assemblies were all coated with 3 coats of a special two part black epoxy. They were all top coated with a gloss black paint for a brilliant and long lasting finish.
Stay tuned as this build continues.......
