1975 Ford F350 Truck Photo Gallery
This truck was hard to find, but we found it!
We were contacted by our client who wanted a very rare truck, a 1975 Ford F350 (One Ton) Regular Cab "Camper Special" Long Bed Truck.
It has a Big Block 460 V8 Motor with a Heavy Duty C6 Automatic Transmission.
We will be performing a total "Ground Up"/ "Frame Off" Restoration.
This truck will be receiving numerous upgrades along with special paint, wheels and more!
The 460 V8 Engine was previously rebuilt (which included being balanced and blueprinted about 2,000 Km's/ 1,242 Miles ago).
We wanted to verify the strength of the motor by performing a compression test (both wet & dry) along with a complete inspection. The compression test numbers were great! We noticed several upgrades with the previous engine build, but several minor oil leaks.
The engine was not properly degreased, cleaned and painted when it was rebuilt previously. We also noticed that gasket sealant was used where proper gaskets were originally located.
The water pump was worn (we replaced it with a new one, not a rebuilt one). A complete new high quality engine gasket set was installed along with new seals (including a new rear main seal).
After all of the engine components were properly cleaned they received fresh coats of high quality engine paint before being reassembled.
The header exhaust pipes were sandblasted and recoated with a special ceramic coating. The heavy duty C6 Transmission was refreshed, degreased, cleaned and received new fluid and filters.
The rusted front/side mount fuel tank was discarded and replaced with a high quality brand new tank. The new fuel tank was degreased and cleaned before receiving a special two part epoxy grey coating along with a new sending unit and new tank straps.
The heavy duty truck frame, cab and complete box assemblies were all degreased, cleaned and media blasted.
The frame was treated to three coats of a special two part gloss black epoxy paint and completely new brake components and new heavy duty shock absorbers were installed to both the front and rear of the truck.
With the truck frame back on its temporary wheels and tires, we re installed the freshened motor and transmission along with a new exhaust system and installed the dual fuel tanks.
The valve covers on the motor were painted a special Emerald Green Metallic paint (with special "sparkle" metal flakes) that will match the exterior paint finish of the complete truck!
Our attention turned to the cab of the truck next. After the cab was media blasted rust areas were exposed. We cut out the rusted sections and welded in new high quality replacement panels where needed.
Once the fabrication was completed on the cab, it received two coats of a special black epoxy primer (to help seal the bare metal) before it received it first coating of grey high build primer. Body smoother was added where needed , and block sanded.
This process required numerous hours of block sanding, beginning with 80 grit sandpaper and proceeding with 120 grit, 180 grit, 240 grit, up to 320 grit (the cab received another spray of high build primer between each grit of sandpaper. The final grit of sandpaper to 400 grit, ensuring a factory smooth looking surface before the special Emerald Green Metallic paint finish was applied.
The cab, both inner and outer front fenders and both front doors along with many other parts received its special green paint and it looks fantastic!
The cab bottom received 2 coats of black anti rust paint before it was set on all new rubber cab mounts on the completely rebuilt frame.
Inner fenders were installed next. They look much nicer painted body colour than the untreated plain galvanized steel they were originally from the Ford Factory in 1975!
Lots of re assembly will be happening now. The cab floor and roof received a nice sound insulation package after the cab floor received two coats of black anti rust paint protection.
The new brake booster and brake master cylinder were installed to the firewall, along with the refreshed steering column assembly (an upgraded steering wheel will be installed later in the build).
We discovered the recored radiator still had the original brass top (it was covered with grease and black paint).
We cleaned, sanded and polished the top to bring back the beautiful brass appearance and applied a few coats of clear coat to keep it looking new for many years to come.
A heavy duty engine oil cooler, heavy duty transmission cooler and heavy duty power steering cooler were installed.
The all new fuse panel and complete new wiring harness was installed next. The strongest, heaviest duty alternator available was installed along with the highest quality battery we could buy.
All new nickel brake lines were made for the complete truck from the new brake master cylinder to all four wheels.
New fuel line was made and installed from the new fuel pump to both brand new fuel tanks.
We installed all fresh fluids (motor oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid and engine coolant.
All of the wiring was checked and tested, and we started the truck and let it idle to warm up to temperature....it sounds great!
The re assembly continued. We installed the front windshield, rear sliding window, both doors, both front fenders and front hood hinges and hood were installed.
The new custom wheels our client selected arrived with the new aggressive Toyo Brand tires. The new tires were mounted to the great looking rims and installed on the truck.
We think they look fantastic!
Stay tuned as the beautiful truck build continues.....
