1957 Porsche 356 Photo Gallery
This has got to be one of our most favorite kit cars ever!
A 1957 Porsche 356 "Replicar".
It does not run presently. We performed a mechanical and cosmetic inspection for our client.
The fiberglass body appears to be from a high quality mold. The interior should get some attention.
We looked over the motor first. There appeared to be a large amount of oil in the engine bay area with several small leaks present.
Once the engine was looked over, the valves were adjusted before a compression test was performed. The numbers were weak, showing the motor requires a rebuild. The fuel tank was leaking at the top of the sending unit and the charging system was not charging.
There were several safety issue concerns noted with this Porsche kit car once the inspection was completed.
The front suspension beam has signs of rust through and has had unsafe previous repairs. The beam will be replaced with an upgraded German Quality adjustable front beam.
When the VW Beetle chassis pan and tunnel were shortened, the welds were not safely done.
The "bubble gum" welds will be removed and proper welding and fabrication will be completed to strengthen the chassis and make the chassis safe.
Our client has decided to not only rebuild the motor and upgrade the clutch, we will be "bumping up" the power and performance of this motor substantially !
